Steel clad anti-vandal cabins bought as they stand, shutters working, seized or gone. A photograph or two and a postcode is enough to get a figure.

Built to be left standing, which is usually what happened
An anti-vandal unit is designed to survive being abandoned on an unmanned site, and it generally does. That is why so many of them are still sitting where the job left them, shutters down, years after anybody used them.
They are steady stock for us. Demand for steel units does not drop off the way it does for other things, and a unit with a sound base frame goes back out after straightforward work. Ex-hire units in particular are built to be knocked about and moved repeatedly.

- 10, 12, 16, 20, 24 and 32ft, plus 8ft and 9ft secure stores. Small units are wanted.

- Working, seized, bent or missing entirely. All bought, at different figures.

- One unit, or every steel cabin on a compound.

What decides the figure
What we are looking at in the photographs
Two or three pictures are enough to start. On a steel unit these are the ones that matter.
The bottom rail
Along the length of the unit, low down. Steel corrodes from the base up, so this one picture answers more than the other five put together.
The outside, from a corner
Two elevations and the roof line, showing the shutter arrangement and where the personnel door sits.
A shutter, close up
Guides, bottom slat and handle. Tells us whether it is seized, bent or simply stiff.
Inside, end to end
The linings, the layout and any water staining. Steel units sweat, and where they have, it shows on the boards.
The consumer unit
Whatever is there, even if it has been isolated or emptied.
The way in
From the road looking towards the unit, showing the gateway, the standing ground and anything overhead.
Useful if you can get it, not a requirement. Send what you have and we will ask if we need more.
How the collection runs
Our own vehicles, so the date is one we control. Steel units are heavier than panel clad ones of the same length, which affects reach rather than whether it can be done, and it is worked out from the access photograph before a date is set.
The unit is taken away whole, on our own HIAB where the ground and overhead clearance allow it and a tilt bed where they do not. If the access looks awkward, ask rather than assume. Send a photograph from where a lorry would have to sit and we will tell you how we would reach it.
Shutters do not need to be openable for collection and the unit does not need emptying beyond removing anything you want to keep.
Payment is by bank transfer on collection, against a figure agreed beforehand.

Anti-vandal units, asked and answered
What counts as an anti-vandal unit?
A steel clad cabin with shuttered or barred windows and a steel personnel door, built to be left on an unmanned site. Offices, stores, canteens and combined units all come in anti-vandal form. If the skin is steel rather than panel, it is one for us.
The shutters are seized. Does that matter?
No. Seized shutters, bent guides and missing handles are the normal condition of a steel unit that has stood for a while. Shutters and windows are freed off in the yard as a matter of course. Do not spend money on them before you sell.
What about dents and surface corrosion?
Dents are cosmetic and priced as such. What we are actually looking at is the base frame and the bottom rail, because that is where a steel unit corrodes from and that is what decides whether it is worth buying or worth removing.
Do you buy anti-vandal units with the electrics stripped?
Yes. Units arrive with the supply disconnected, the consumer unit gone or the wiring pulled out and they are still bought. Everything that goes back out is electrically tested and certified with paperwork supplied, so the starting point is not the issue.
Are steel units worth more than panel clad ones?
Usually, size for size, because demand for them is steadier and they survive being left standing better. But a tired steel unit with a corroded base frame is worth less than a sound panel one, so condition still decides.
How are we paid?
Bank transfer on collection, against a figure agreed before the lorry is booked.
Do you sell anti-vandal units as well?
Yes. A good deal of what we buy is refurbished in our own yard and goes back out. Tell us the size and layout you need and we will say what we can do.
Anti-vandal unit shuttered up and forgotten?
A photograph or two and the postcode it is standing on. That is enough for a figure, and the figure is what you are paid on collection.
