What the term means
Steel skin, steel door, shutters over the glass
Anti-vandal describes how a cabin is built, not what it is used for. Take the same shell and it becomes an office, a tool store, a drying room or a canteen. What stays constant is the construction: profiled steel cladding rather than a coated board finish, a steel door on heavy hinges, and roller or hinged shutters that close over the windows.
- Steel cladding — dents and scuffs are cosmetic; splits and tears at the corners are worth a closer look.
- Shutters — check they actually run. Seized mechanisms are common and repairable.
- Door and frame — a distorted frame is the usual souvenir of a forced entry and the thing worth spotting.
- Lock and hasp — easily upgraded in the yard to whatever the compound needs.

Which anti-vandal unit suits the compound
Security level is a decision about the plot rather than the cabin. These are the arrangements we are asked for most often.

What we put right on a used steel clad unit
Shutters and locks
Every shutter is run through its travel, freed or replaced, and the tracks cleared. Locks, hasps and door gear are upgraded to suit the compound the unit is going to. This is exactly the work that is awkward once the cabin is on your plot.
Steel and frame
Split cladding is repaired, distorted door frames are straightened or replaced, and corners that have been caught by a machine are put back. Cosmetic dents we leave and describe rather than charging you for.
Inside
Deck, lining, floor covering, lighting, sockets and heating are checked as they are on any used cabin. Electrical certification is supplied with units we have refurbished.

What makes a cabin anti-vandal?
A steel skin instead of a painted board or plastic-coated finish, a steel door with a proper lock, and shutters that close over the glazing. The point is not that it cannot be got into - it is that getting into it takes long enough, and makes enough noise, that it usually is not attempted.
Are anti-vandal cabins only used as offices?
No. The same shell is fitted out as a secure store, a drying room, a canteen or a plant and tool lock-up. Anti-vandal describes the construction, not the use. A steel-clad store on an unmanned compound is one of the commonest units we handle.
What sizes do used anti vandal cabins come in?
From 10ft up to 40ft, in 8ft, 9ft and 10ft widths. Shorter units are usually stores and gatehouses, 20ft and 24ft the everyday office sizes, and 32ft the size that gets partitioned into two or three rooms.
Do seized shutters matter?
Not to us when we are buying, and not for long when we are selling. Shutter mechanisms seize because nobody uses them for a year, and freeing or replacing them is routine yard work. What matters more is whether the steel behind them is sound and whether the frame has been distorted by a forced entry.
Are steel clad cabins colder than a standard cabin?
A steel skin behaves differently to a plastic-coated one and glazing condition matters more than the cladding does. Sound sealed units, a door that shuts properly and shading on the sunny elevation make a bigger difference than anything else. If people will sit still in it all day, look at the glazing and the orientation first.
Can the shutters and locks be changed before delivery?
Yes. Shutter mechanisms, locks, door gear and hasps are all yard work and are far cheaper done here than on your compound. Say at enquiry stage what level of security the plot actually needs.
